2018 Davis Cup
I was at the Davis Cup tie vs Germany,
02-04 Feb 2018, as photographer for
Nick Kyrgios and his
charity NK
Foundation. These shots of Nick appear on his social media
accounts, especially Facebook.
The Aussie Davis Cup team didn't end
up with the desired result but it wasn't for lack of trying! |
The
Country's Behind You
An injured Nick Kyrgios
gives his all, flying for his country in the treasured green
& gold. He was sidelined for months afterwards because he
continued to play this crucial match while injured. Awesome
effort - as this photo clearly demonstrates!
Nick Kyrgios won his first match of the Davis Cup tie vs
Germany, but in this second match his injured elbow severely
hampered his serve and the rest of his game. Still, an
injured Nick is still more likely to beat World #5 than
anyone else in Australia. But this time it wasn’t to be. 04

Giving
Back
At the end of a Davis
Cup practice session Nick met a very sick fan,
giving him more than just a sweaty armband, shirt & racquet
to enjoy. He also gave the gift of joy - both to the boy and to
his family. Such a proud moment for the boy & such a
humbling moment for Nick. These moments are truly priceless.

Stretched
To The Limit
Heroes don’t always
win, as Alex De Minaur heartbreakingly proved in the opening
match, going down in an epic five set battle 7-5, 4-6, 4-6,
6-3, 7-6 (7-4) against much,
much, much higher ranked World #5 Alexander Zverev. He gave
it absolutely everything in a match that went for 3 hours 54
minutes.

Battle Of
The Alexs
Alexander Zverev plays
a massive forehand on his way to defeating Aussie Alex De
Minaur in an epic 5 set encounter. Aussie fans calling out
"Go Alex!" over & over again during the match were really
just barracking for both sides, finally getting their way
after nearly 4 hours - yes, Alex won. 02 Feb 2018.

Doubles
Troubles
The Aussie pairing of
Matt Ebden & John Peers dug deep but they just weren’t able
to come away with the win against the German pairing of Jan-Lennard
Struff & Tim Puetz, going down in a 5 set, 3h 17m thriller.
Heart-pounding then heart-breaking. 03 Feb 2018.
