I love taking sport
photos. There's so much to love about all the different
sports - from motor racing to footy to rodeo. There's the
thrill of being right there when the action is happening and
there's the thrill of capturing the shot. Being there is
often rewarding enough on its own but taking great photos
makes it all the more enjoyable.

NRLW Launch: Human Missile
The girls show they can
hit just as hard as the guys. It's Round One - the NRLW has definitely been
launched!
Holli Wheeler launches herself like a human missile into Chelsea Lenarduzzi,
stopping her in her tracks. The only tracks Chelsea is making
this time are back tracks. BAMMM!!! Round One - Broncos v
Dragons, Suncorp Stadium, 09 Sep 2018.

Winter Nationals
These
top fuel dragsters are racing at the 2016 WinterNats, the biggest event of its kind outside North
America. They
are accelerating at 5 G's - literally exploding past. They're the fastest accelerating
vehicles on the planet - faster than any aircraft or manned
rocket including the Space Shuttle! The noise is not only
deafening but scary. They've got to be seen to be believed.
The top speed for the day - a world record = 536km/h!

International
I love watching
tennis, and one of my favourite players over the years has
been this guy, France's Gilles Simon. Here he's being beaten
in flight by a great lob by the Aussie pair of Guccione &
Duckworth, who went on to win the match. Top marks for
flying, Gilles. Impressive air!

Conrod
Carnage
Ever
been hit by your brother? Not like this, you haven't!
In this photo Aussie Racing Car driver Damien Flack's car
was clipped by the car being driven by his brother Adrian on the fastest part of
the track and sent careering out of control into the wall at around 240km/h,
then flipped over and over and over and over before finally
coming to rest between those power
poles, but not before hitting the wall a second time and bursting into
flames! It was horrendous to watch, and surreal to
photograph (I have photos of the whole thing, having started
taking photos when I saw his car veering sideways). His
brother feared he'd died. He very well could have. Thankfully
though Damien escaped with
only broken ribs
and a punctured lung. It could have been so much worse!
The Mount Panorama race circuit at
Bathurst is an incredible track. If you haven't been there,
you really must go some day. Watching the cars fly across
the top of Mt Panorama then launch themselves down through
the Esses, Forest Elbow, and then down Conrod Straight
(which concludes with one of the fastest corners in world
sport) is breathtaking!

A Face
For Rodeo
I wonder what's going
through this guy's head right now. 'Sand' would probably be
a good guess. Perhaps the fleeting thrill is worth it, but
the likelihood of a lesson in gravity with a rapid descent
back down to reality is high, so burying your head in the
sand can't do much but hurt. Perhaps a helmet for Christmas
wouldn't be a bad idea. Or some sense. But you've gotta be
crazy to do this in the first place, right?

Best Rider, Ever
This guy is truly
incredible. He's the best rider I have ever seen, bar none.
You might think that he's crashing, but you'd be very, very
wrong!
During the popular event of Campdrafting at the annual
Warwick Rodeo, 2015, where guys & girls
take turns at directing a bull through a specific route,
this guy's horse slips. What happened next was incredible.
This guy never looked like coming off, but as smooth and
calm as you like, never taking his eyes off the steer in
front of him, he pulled the horse back up onto its feet, on
to keep steering the steer through the course. I've never
seen anything like it. He never, ever looked like coming
off. Wow!

Justin
Hodges' Non-Spear Tackle
Thankfully for
Justin Hodges & Ben Hunt, this tackle wasn't deemed to be a
spear tackle, although it suspiciously resembles one. #12
Aidan Guerra told the judiciary that he jumped off the
ground to try to get a penalty. Sounds good to me.
