Nick Is
Back
It’s
that time of year again. Nick is back & looking better than
ever (except maybe that spider-bitten foot of his!). All the
best for a great summer of tennis! 2019 Brisbane
International.

Apocalyptic Rock
Finland's heavy metal cellists Apocalyptica are a world-wide
hit, thrashing out tunes that would scare many other bands
away. But they do it with such grace and with smiles on
their faces. They are always a treat to watch and listen to.
In this monochrome photo, Eicca Toppinen shows why he's such
an amazing musician - playing a real cello while headbanging
and standing and playing it so well. Astounding stuff!

Cat Scratch Fever
I was taking
bodypainting photos in a function room. In the room next
door was a bar with TVs showing horseracing. In between
shoots I suggested we go next door to take some fun ones.
The king of the jungle has Cat Scratch Fever. His crown
fallen, his willpower gone, he studies the form guide and
can't take his eyes of those horses. He is just a big cat after
all.

Rafa Begins 2019 In Brisbane
There's
no better to place to start the year than in Brisbane. Rafael
Nadal practiced a couple of times then pulled out of the
competition before even playing a match - appearance money
intact! Phew! There's nothing worse than a starving tennis
player:) 2019 Brisbane International.

Kerber Crunch
First Prize:
Monochrome Print
2018 Royal Queensland Show
Chosen as 1 of 10 photos to represent Queensland at APSCON
2018
Germany's Angelique
Kerber crunches a ball mid-flight during her epic 2hr 20min Semi-final
showdown with Romania’s Simona Halep, eventually going down
9-7 in a marathon third set.
It was easily one of the best matches I've ever seen. It was
exhausting & heart-thumping. I was worn out just watching
it! Both had match points, both scrambled as if their lives
depended on it, both at times looked as if they were so
exhausted they couldn't go on, both kept lifting time & time
again. It was awesome to be there and even more awesome to
get some cool action shots as souvenirs. Thanks ladies,
you’re both unbelievably unbelievable!
Although Angie took out the championship in 2016, this year
it wasn't to be. 2018 Australian Open Women's
Singles Semi-final, Thursday 25 January 2018, Rod Laver
Arena.

Broken For Us
A
broken figurine of Jesus Christ on a gravestone reminds us
of the historical figure crucified two thousand years ago.
The writers of the New Testament make it clear that...
Jesus died in our place
To pay the price for our sin
Then He rose from the grave
So we can forever live with Him

Bass Lick
Markus Großkopf of
German band Helloween shows some love for his bass guitar. Or
he spilt something there earlier and only just noticed.
Either way, it was a bass lick to remember.

Ed Force One
Touching Down
This is
the most photographed plane in the world - Ed Force One, the
747 that English heavy metal band Iron Maiden are flying
around the world co-piloted by lead singer Bruce Dickinson
on their The Book Of Souls World Tour - the moment the front
wheel touches down at Brisbane Airport, 2 May 2016.
Oh and for any planespotters, this photo wasn't taken from
the usual spot, but around the other side of the airport
near the fire brigade.

Big Wave
I love the calmness of
the surfer. Faced with a massive wave that looks like it
could easily sweep him away, he doesn't flinch but actually
walks on ahead unfazed. Don't we all at times have 'big
waves' to face, waves that seem certain to sweep us away?
The calmness and confidence of the surfer is due to the fact
that he knows this wave is hitting the rocks and shooting
straight up - it's all show. He will hardly get a drop
on him.

Dark
Towers
I saw these towers
while walking in Melbourne. They look dark & sinister,
like something out of a comic book
or superhero movie.

Yeeharrr!
A very popular event at
the annual Warwick Rodeo is Campdrafting, where guys & girls
take turns at directing a bull through a specific route.
It's really quite interesting to watch. The talent on show
was amazing.

Russell
Falls
Russell
Falls were raging! There had been wild storms, snow, rain -
and it was all coming down Russell Falls Creek at once. It was
impossible to take a photo without getting the camera drenched
in spray - not that I'm worried about the weather-sealed
camera body & lens - but you can't take a clear shot
with your lens covered in spray. So in embattled conditions
(hiding behind trees, jumping out for one shot, hiding
behind trees to wipe the spray off my lens, jumping out for one
shot, then hiding, wiping, jumping etc) I got this shot -
looks really nice in black & white, but in colour it was a
waterfall of chocolaty proportions as the raging water was
abnormally brown, brown, brown.
